Goooood Sunday morning!!
Yesterday afternoon after I got all showered up from the 5k, Ben and I headed of to a little town called, Modale, IA to visit his Grandma for her 85th Birthday!
Here’s a little info on Modale:
- Population: 303
- The town is being overrun by PEONIES!!! In every, beautiful shade – they are everywhere! What lilacs are to Minneapolis, Peonies are to Modale, IA
- I drove on every street in Modale, IA
- There are no stop lights
- I ate dinner at a place called “The Man Cave” 😀
- Modale rules…
Seriously – this place is teeeeeeeeny tiiiiiiny – no stoplights! But it was so unique, so many things to explore and so Iowa. I loved it! Let me take you through our trip…
On our way out of town we saw a wiener dog chilling in the back landing of a car!! Wiener dogs are my FAVE!
Driving East from my house across Iowa is actually pretty boring, but driving out West you get great views of rolling hills, tiny farmhouses and rows of seedlings…oh, and windmills!
Not so rolling in this portion…but here are some seedlings – soon they’ll be soybeans or corn!
I guess I didn’t take a lot of pictures of rolling hills, d’oh! Here are a couple I guess…in Video!! (I think I might be obsessed with videos…so expect more 🙂 )
Aaaaand, welcome to Modale!
And Grandma’s House!
Field of corn seedlings next to Grandma’s house:
Ahhh, Iowa 🙂
Cool highway shot:
Ben playing in a massive tree,
So peaceful here…
Here are those Peonies!! No camera tricks here folks…these were vibrant and amazing.
Ok, this needs to be addressed. One of Ben’s Aunts has a tiny little pup who she loves to go walking with. Well, the tiny pup has tiny legs which means she gets pretty tired during long walks…enter the DOG PURSE!!!!!
LOOK AT THIS DOG!!!!
Haaaaaaaaa, apparently the dog loves it and to be honest, it was very comfortable…and stylish if I do say so myself! Everyone needs a dog purse!!
Happy Birthday Grandma!! To the sweetest woman who loves her family more than anything!
Oh, and naturally, I had to finish the trip off with a visit to the Dairy Den in Missouri Valley for a twist cone.
What a great trip this was! I got to see the town where Ben’s Dad and brothers grew up, Ben got to take a trip back to his Grandma’s house where he hadn’t been in awhile and we got to spend the day with family. What more could you ask?
This morning I slept in a little, then had some frosted mini wheats for breakfast…(thanks to my in-laws whose cupboards we semi-raided when we got back last night!! eeek!)
So cold, crisp, cool and DELISH – and in my San Fran Starbuck’s collector mug!
I honestly have no idea what I’m going to do the rest of the day! Grocery shopping is the only thing I can think of that needs to get done…hooooray!
Do you live in a small town? Medium, large?
