Hello!
WOW I’m so refreshed! I slept until 9:00 today – unbelievable! I stayed up a little later than usual last night watching Project Runway and a new show right after it that’s about the models of PR. It was dece!
You know what I was thinking yesterday? There are hardly any “shows” left on television. Gone are the days of Seinfeld, Friends, Mad About You, Full House, etc. You know, the ones with a live studio audience? Now it’s all reality shows, all the time. Which is fine – I actually happen to like reality shows – but it’s just funny what 10 years can do to television!
Anyways – the Fall weather continued through the night and into the morning…so guess who made a comeback? OATS! It’s actually been so long since I made oatmeal, that I had to consult my own How-to Stove Top Oatmeal directions because I had forgotten how!
I dug out my dried fruits, spices and old fashioned oats to make Fig & Apricot Oatmeal.
In the mix:
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup old fashioned oatmeal
- splash of cinnamon & vanilla
- 1 banana
- 3 dried figs
- 3 dried apricots
- drizzle of sugar-free syrup
Oh how I have missed you, oatmeal!
The sweet, creamy, comforting, warm bowl was just what I needed on this chilly morning.
I sure did miss the pOp of those fig seeds too 🙂
I may not be thinking clearly because this bowl of oatmeal was so satisfying and the current temps are so cozy, but…I can’t believe I’m about to say it…bring on Fall! Bring on the football games, crock pot dinners, apple picking, hoodies, leaf raking and everything else that comes along with my favorite season! 😀
Here’s the rest of today’s agenda:
- Catch up on emails
- Go to bank
- Go to drugstore
- Work on blog (ch-ch-ch-changes are in the works!)
- Vacuum & dust
- Relax with trashy day-time television 🙂
Sounds good to me!

What’s your favorite part about your favorite season?
i hope you have a good day! and I brought the oats back today.
Fall has always been my favorite season. I love the cooler weather, brisk mornings, changing leaves, football, hot chocolate….love it all.
you know … i love summer, but now that i’m healthy im starting to enjoy the feel of fall more and more. bring it on!
your oats look delicious 🙂

I’m excited for fall too! Boston has had the worst summer ever (it rained the entire month of June, no lie) and it’s just now getting hot…and HUMID as all hell! I’m sick of it! I love football, crisp air, comfort food, and oats!
I hear you on the TV. Even though I love the shows that are on now (30 rock, the office, lost…and that’s about it) I miss the oldies! Showd today don’t even have theme songs! TV land plays married with children, the cosby show, and Roseann alot so I’ve been watching those some nights! Brings back some good memories.
I know you’ve probably said, but I can’t find it on here anywhere, what kind of almond butter do you use? It looks so good!! I just finished up my jar of Barney Butter and am looking for a new kind to try. So I would love to know what some of ya’lls favorites are! Thanks!
Oh and I agree on the T.V. thing. My boyfriend and I were actually just talking about that the other day. There really aren’t any sitcoms left. Everything is either reality t.v. or some sort of crime drama. I miss TGIF!! Remember that? That was the best when I was little!
The jar I’m currently using (and almost out of, SOB!) is Trader Joes Creamy Almond Butter with Sea Salt. I’m not hardcore enough to go unsalted. And UGH TGIF!!! That used to be my absolute FAVE part of the week!!! Miss it so!

I love figs! I saw a fig and something sandwich last night at a restaurant – I was so captivated! I didn’t get it – but your oatmeal has me hankering for some FIG LOVE!
Fall is my favorite season! I love the flavors and feels of fall. I love pumpkin and cinnamon and sweet potatoes. I love the crisp breeze in the air while walking to class. I love the smell of fall–smells so clean.
Lovely oatmeal my dear! I missed seeing your fruity topped oats with that maple syrup! My fav thing about fall season coming up is the abundance of apples to choose from. I’m an apple lover so I’m gonna be in heaven.
I LOVE the fall too! By far my fave season! I used to adores summer…no school, no work (as a child anyway!), my birthday, swimming, friends, ice cream…it was great! Now (as a more realistic and jaded adult haha) I love fall! The leaves, the colors, the cooler weather (!!), the holidays approaching…it’s just always had a magical feel to it for me 🙂
I just told my bf I was kind of excited for crock pot meals!!! (it’s been chilly in MN too)
My favorite part of fall is football season and being able to run anytime of day in the mild temps. I love fall racing season!
Fall is my favorite season too. I love everything about it – the crisp air, the beautiful colors on the trees, apple picking, football, apple cider, jeans with a hoodie and no jacket, Halloween, pumpkins, the decorations, etc! I got married in the fall too so it’s also my anniversary. It will be 5 years in October. How time flies! Enjoy the rest of your day off!
I love summer. My birthday is in June and I love the beach, pool, cute sundresses, awesome fruit, sunglasses, being oustide…I could go on.
I have favorites about all seasons though. I love the flowers in spring, everything you said in the fall and Christmas in the winter. I just don’t deal well with cold!
I miss Seinfeld and Friends!!!
Ohhhh gosh i didn’t realize how much i’ve missed seeing those yummy looking oat bowls of yours!
So creative and tasty looking 🙂
Can’t wait to see the blog changes!
This year really did go by in a flash! But I love fall and am welcoming it with open arms. My favourite parts have to be the cool breeze, the changing leaves, and the urge to curl up by a fireplace with your loved ones. I always get like this by the end of August, and then by the end of October I’m ready for snow! LOL!
By the way, TV shows are weird now … though the Husband and I do love House, True Blood, and CSI. Gary Unmarried is pretty funny, as is Two and a Half Men. I’m so not a reality show fan!
Yum for oatmeal!

I start getting antsy for fall right about this time. I love all the fresh produce that summer brings … but fall is such a beautiful time of year filled with crisp weather, football games … and soup with homemade bread! I have a favorite potato leek soup from a Williams Sonoma cookbook. Yum …
Oatmeal made a return in my house this morning as well! I love fall for all the reasons that you list as well as the beautiful leaves changing colors! Oh, that and a little thing called pumpkin. I told my husband that had I had any pumpkin in the pantry yesterday I would have made something with it.
I completely agree with all of the comments regarding fall as the best season (yes, Michelle it is *magical* and my wedding anniversary is in fall too..because I wanted a fall wedding even though I am a teacher and had the entire summer off. Bring on the burgundy, browns, oranges, reds, and golds!). It is my absolute favorite-the apple cider, the colorful leaves, starting a brand new school year, cooler temps, crisp air, hoodies, “warmish foods” and the comforting smells. It’s such a cozy season and I look forward to going to our Apple Orchard like it’s Christmas morning for me. To. Die. For. fresh apple cider doughnuts.
delicious! thanks for all the great recipes–is there a way to click on the recipe and have it print without the comments, etc? (even though I love reading the comments…just won’t all stuff in my recipe box)
Unfortunately, there isn’t 😦 You could copy/paste into a word doc though!
